About Me

is lasik surgery something for you to consider?

Are you tired of fighting with your contact lenses each morning or struggling to find your glasses in the middle of the night so you can see what time it is? Have you ever considered getting lasik eye surgery to eliminate the need for your glasses and contact lenses? I put off getting the procedure completed for several years, but after having it done, my only regret is waiting so long to do it. If I was to add up how much it cost me to replace my glasses and contacts over the years, the cost of having the surgery performed was nothing. I have done my best to include any information that anyone considering getting lasik surgery needs to make an educated decision.

Three Steps To Preparing For Your Upcoming Eye Exam

It is incredibly important to schedule an annual eye exam to maintain your eye health. Your eye professional will use this time to determine whether you need eyeglasses or contacts or if your current prescription needs to be changed. Before heading into the eye doctor's office for your exam, here are a few things that you can do to prepare for the appointment.

Research Your Family's Vision History

If an individual in your family has ever been diagnosed with an eye-related disease like glaucoma or cataracts, then you are likely to be at an increased risk of developing vision problems. Therefore, before heading to the eye clinic, take a moment to research the history of your family so that you can accurately provide your eye doctor with a medical history of your family, particularly as it relates to vision-related conditions. This will help your eye doctor watch for any symptoms.

Prepare a List of Questions

When you go to the doctor, you have certain questions that you would like to ask. However, once you step foot in the clinic, you often forget what those questions were. So, write them down on a piece of paper to make sure that you don't forget. Regarding your eye appointment, you may want to find out what steps you should take to properly care for your eyewear, or you may need to ask about some symptoms that you have been experiencing as of late like blurry vision. Keep in mind if you are experiencing serious symptoms like double vision or floaters you will want to call the clinic and let them know so they can get you in sooner.

Bring Your Current Glasses or Contacts

If you are currently wearing prescription eyewear, you should bring them with you to your eye exam appointment. In doing so, you will help the eye doctor in determining whether your current prescription is still adequate or if it needs to be changed because your vision needs have changed since your last visit. Please keep in mind that you will likely be asked to remove your glasses or contacts for the exam to ensure that your eyes are properly assessed and treated.

If you have any more questions about what to expect from your visit or have any questions about what you need to do before the eye exam, get in touch with your eye clinic ahead of time.
