About Me

is lasik surgery something for you to consider?

Are you tired of fighting with your contact lenses each morning or struggling to find your glasses in the middle of the night so you can see what time it is? Have you ever considered getting lasik eye surgery to eliminate the need for your glasses and contact lenses? I put off getting the procedure completed for several years, but after having it done, my only regret is waiting so long to do it. If I was to add up how much it cost me to replace my glasses and contacts over the years, the cost of having the surgery performed was nothing. I have done my best to include any information that anyone considering getting lasik surgery needs to make an educated decision.

5 Tips To Avoid Foot Pain

No matter what your age is, you should never take your feet for granted. They get you around every day and can endure a lot of wear and tear in the process. If you start taking better care of your feet and avoid things that can hurt them, you can prevent pain. Here are five helpful tips to avoid foot pain:

Do not Wear High Heels As Often

A pair of stylish heels can certainly add flare to your outfit, but wearing them too often is not very good for your feet. If you try to squeeze your feet into tight heels all the time, you can experience blisters, bunions, ingrown toenails and even back pain.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

If you needed yet another reason to stay at a healthy weight, do it for your feet. Carrying around excess pounds can put a lot of pressure on your feet, which can lead to pain. If you are currently overweight, eat fewer calories every day and fill your diet with nutritious foods, like fruits, vegetables, chicken and fish. Exercise at least every other day to burn more calories and speed up your metabolism.

Be Careful When Trimming Your Toenails

When it is time to cut your toes, do so with care. Carefully cut your toenails straight across with a clean pair of scissors. If you cut your toenails too short or around the corners, you can develop ingrown toenails.

Stretch Your Calf Muscles

If you have tightness in your calf muscles, you could put pressure on the balls of your feet and experience pain. Stretching your calf muscles every day will loosen them up and prevent discomfort in your feet. Stand on your toes with your heels raised off the ground. Then, slowly lower your heels to the ground. Repeat the move several times.

Drink Plenty of Water

Foot cramps are common and can be caused by dehydration. If you are not hydrating your body properly, you are more likely to experience pain in your feet. Aim to drink at least eight cups of water a day to prevent foot cramps.

Your feet do a lot for you, so take good care of them. If you follow these helpful tips, you can minimize foot pain and feel a lot better. However, if you still experience foot pain, you should make an appointment to see a foot doctor, like Hartford Podiatry Group, as soon as possible.
